The Social Weaver (Versamelvoël), Philetairus socius - 14 cm or 5½” – is a resident bird, endemic to almost the entire Namibia and part of the Cape Provence north of the Gariep River. It’s a seed-eater and lives in huge communal grass built nests – preferably in the camel Thorne trees on the steppe and on the edge of the desert. |
